Historical Records in the Town of Richmond
On file are hundreds of documents pertaining to the history of Richmond and its families. Most inquiries can be handled by the historian, but be aware that statistics regarding marriage and birth were not recorded before 1870, and information pertaining to property ownership is on file at the Ontario County Archives in Hopewell.
Family Names of Richmond
The Richmond Historian’s Office has several files pertaining to families who have lived in town in the past. It is possible to research these files in person by contacting the Historian and making an appointment, by email at historian@townofrichmond.org or telephone at 585-229-1128.
However, if that is not an option for you, this collection of Family Names may be useful. These documents have been compiled using the material in the Historian’s files.
If you don’t find your family’s name, please contact me at historian@townofrichmond.org. These files are for use in genealogical research only. You may cite the source as “Material on file at the Richmond Town Historian’s Office” Richmond (Ontario County), New York.
